Operations are running. Corners are being taken. The district moves whether you're here or not.
Borough Briefing Room - Active on Discord| # | OPERATIVE | ◈ JUNK | CORNERS |
|---|
Five operations. Each a decision. Preparation, crew composition, and risk tolerance determine outcome. The borough doesn't give. It yields - or it doesn't.
Send 1–5 crew members to surveil the outlet before committing. Intel depth scales with the crew's scope skill. Scoping is optional - every subsequent operation is more effective with accurate intel. Scoping blind is legal exposure without the JUNK.
Night operation. No crew guards patrolling - professional security only: alarm systems, cameras, a contracted guard on patrol, and whatever is in the safe. Stealth and electronics skill determine how much preparation costs. No firearms. No daylight. Get in, take what's there, get out clean.
Daytime hit. Armed, fast, aggressive. Guards are active and armed during business hours. The owning crew may have day-shift personnel present. Speed and firepower matter. Subtlety does not. Higher noise, higher legal exposure - pays more than a burglary because the risk is real.
Not a theft. A takeover. The crew goes in force to remove whoever controls the outlet and claim it. This is the only operation that changes who owns the place. 10 members minimum - not a guideline, a hard requirement. The confirm button is disabled with fewer than 10. Two security layers face the attackers: professional infrastructure and the defending crew's personnel.
Specialist NPCs hired for safes your crew cannot crack. Drawn from a shared pool - first crew to book gets them. If someone else hired the Breaker, you wait for them to become available. Plan operations around availability or develop Safecracking skill to self-crack at level 3+.
These are not background decoration. Each outlet generates income every 48 hours when owned. Each one is a target. Scoping one reveals its obstacle profile. The obstacle profile determines preparation cost. Preparation cost determines whether the operation is profitable.
110 outlets across Gritty Borough. Every one generates income. Every one can be taken. Every one can be lost while you're offline.
When your outlet is taken, a 24-hour vengeance window opens. Strike back within that window and the city recognises it as a settled debt - a ceremony fires, the feed broadcasts it. Miss the window and the corner is gone. The city records your inaction. Move on or stay relevant.
Muscle requires 10 members minimum. Each additional member above 10 adds +1.5% success chance, capped at +20%. A crew of 20 muscles differently than a crew of 10. Recruitment is not a social feature - it is a strategic advantage on the map. Small crews cannot take T2 outlets without significant skill compensation.
Active, regularly-collected outlets are better protected. An inactive owner defends less than an active one. Elite scope skill (level 4) can assess the defender strength before committing the crew - lower-skill attackers go in without knowing what they're walking into.
Actions leave evidence. Heat builds. Status escalates. Gritty Borough is not a passive backdrop - it tracks everything your crew does and responds accordingly.
The officer has a description. Not enough for an arrest - enough to watch. Any operation a Suspicious crew member runs immediately converts them to WANTED status at operation start, before success or failure resolves. The player is warned before selecting them for a job.
Active warrant. Running Wanted crew members on operations costs –5% success rate per Wanted member in the crew. If the operation fails with Wanted members participating, arrest fires immediately for each one. No bribe window. No delay. They are taken.
The bribe window opens. Police makes contact. A timed window to pay and walk. The cost scales with the operative's wanted history - a first encounter is manageable, a fifth is significant. A Cop on Payroll crew asset suppresses encounter triggers entirely for operatives who are covered.
In custody. Out of all operations until bail is paid. Bail cost escalates with the season arrest record - a first arrest is a manageable setback. A fifth is a budget crisis that affects the crew's operational capacity. Bail is paid from the crew's resources.
The crew goes quiet. No crimes. No operations. No income. The clock counts down in monospace. A low-risk job that fails earns a short laying low window. A failed high-risk operation earns a long one. The city does not pause while the crew waits. Rival crews continue running operations. Outlets continue generating income for whoever holds them.
A crew can maintain a corrupt officer on retainer. Encounter triggers suppressed for covered operatives. A structural investment - one less variable in every operation the crew runs. Costs the crew treasury each collection cycle. Stop paying, protection stops. The officer has no loyalty, only a rate.
ReBased Punks are not collectibles inside Punkham Mayhem. They are crew leaders with skills, criminal history, and a reputation that compounds season over season. The skills bound to a Punk token - scope, stealth, combat, electronics, safecracking, intimidation - travel with the token when it changes hands. A skilled Punk is an operational asset worth more than an unskilled one.
Non-Punk operatives run jobs at half earnings. Punk holders run operations at full rate, lead crews, earn the distinction of rank, and carry a criminal record that the borough can read.
Your Punk accumulates a criminal record. Skills develop. Epithets are assigned. The district tracks who did what - and so does every crew watching the board.
Ranked by crimes, outlets seized, and vengeances executed.
Discord is where the borough talks. War declarations. Crew recruitment. Territorial disputes. Criminal record comparisons. Rival intelligence. Season rankings. The briefing room is where you find out what happened while you were offline - and plan what happens next.
Every hour offline, the district moves without you. Corners are being scoped. Operations are running. The leaderboard is being written.
Connect via Discord and enter the borough. The map shows the current state. Start with a robbery. Move to burglaries. Build crew. Take corners. The borough doesn't greet you. It either yields or it doesn't.
ENTER THE DISTRICTA ReBased Punk is crew authority. Full earnings rate. Skill attributes. Criminal record. The ability to lead a crew and take territory. Without a Punk, half your cut stays with the Borough Crew. With one, you take the full haul.
